Fading
« on: December 23, 2011, 09:48:06 PM »
I get a lot of photo images to print on the DTG. I am trying to fade the egdes of the print so it does not look like a box. I have tried doing searchs, but have not been sucessful. I don't knoow what that type of effect is called  so the searches are not giving me the correct results. Does anyone know what it is called. Or how to do it? Thanks

Not sure how you could do that in illustrator but in Photoshop I have a set of edge effect actions that came with Easy Art. I just select a edge effect and then use the lasso tool to define the boundaries.

Thanks P. Will search edge effects. I am using Photoshop to prep my files.

I do those all the time using frames. Convert the frame to a bitmap and apply a gaussian blur. (This one's a little rough but you get the idea...)

Shannon

when I do the blur the whole image blurs not just the outside.  Can you list how to do that step by step?

You want to blur the frame, not the photo. Here's the step by step of how I did it...
