moving or placing image to different position on page
« on: March 03, 2011, 10:35:02 AM »
I use both Photopaint and Photoshop. (I still use PSv7, usually still does the trick)

At any rate, to fool my printer into not cutting off pictures that would otherwise extend beyond the rather skimpy default margins, I sometimes set up as to print on oversize paper, like  legal to print 10.75" on letter.

Anyhoo, in Photopaint, it's an easy drag in the preview window in Paper Size (like PS Canvas Size) to slide my pic over to the side (in landscape, up in portrait). How do I do this in Photoshop?

a) What printer? On some drivers you can set the default margins to zero.

b) In PS - look in the "Print With Preview" dialog box. You can adjust the print position at the top of the dialog box by un-checking "Center image" and specifying the distance from top or left of the page.

Thanks, even now after being told what to look for, I almost missed it!

The printer is an HP 9800, and I will explore the possibility of changing from the default margins, but have little hope. They are a little odd because they are very small, about .125" on three sides, but .625" on the right or bottom.

Margins that big are usually for the gripper or paper handling. Can't change 'em.

Except that borderless printing is available if one chooses one of the HP Photo Papers as a choice.
Hmmmm
I am going to have to see if that puts out too much ink. I will experiment again.
