Photoshop - How to make all colors the same
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:41:54 AM »
i dont work in PS that much mostly Corel.  However, I have a customer provided psd file that i want to print.  its a simple one color job.  when i print the film, its all different shades of black.  i went back to PS and sure enough, the black in PS is all kinds different variants.

In corel, i can find/replace to make all the colors the same but how in the world do you do this in PS?

v7

thanks in advance
Have a great day! :)

In PS  take the magic wand and select the black you want to use.

Then go to select similar and then to fill.

Pick your color and hit enter.

If you have broken paths it will take a little longer and sometimes you will have to close them first.

Or just convert to bitmap (which is photoshops term for black and white) then print your film.

You could also go to
Image
   Adjustments
        threshold
There will be a slide bar that will adjust everything black.

On a PC it is Control M, do the click and drag thing on the curves, then OK and then Control S if you want to save the file.

No comprenda  senior. (i don't understand)
I see that you all gave him the info needed but I'm lost. It was to be s 1 color print right?  And he went to Photoshop and it was all varients of black right?  That's 1color....right?

Is it that he wanted all solid black areas?

I think it was a variety of RGB "blacks" or CMYK "blacks" . . . not  "K" or mixes set up as a spot color "black" that would output as one sep . . . I think.

yep.  it was all different shades of black in the design.  to the naked eye, its all black.  When i sent it to the printer via Filmmaker as usual since the films printed from Filmmaker are much darker than direct print, it printed half tones all over the place.  like i said, in Corel, its very easy to make everything one black.  in photoshop, i didnt know how to do it easily but knew there had to be a way to do it.

Have a great day! :)
