taking art to the next level
« on: May 20, 2011, 12:11:03 PM »
have been using Illustrator for the 8 years I've been in business and have only printed vector art.  Just recently picked up Separation Studio and it has opened my eyes to wanting to spiff up my art.  Just adding some shading and details to text can make all of the difference.  I have photoshop but haven't really used it extensively.  Are there are any tutorials specifically designed for screenprinters in mind?

There are a lot of good ones out there. Check out Lemorris site he has a good one on paths. You can also go over to badbonz and they have posted some of Jeri's PS tuts. The other way to learn is to just Play with it.

Hey Integritees---

There are alot of good tutorials out there and alot of very very knowledgeable folks willing to lend some tips and advice. Network, read, and yes, as Ink said, just play with it. Sometimes the tricks and lessons we learn that help the most are the ones we discover for ourselves.

Have fun and have a great weekend. ;D

great dane graphics has a book (mac) for Illustrator and Photoshop that will get your feet wet. The Illustrator side will be old news probably, but you'll learn some PS basics. As the others said, there are many tuts out there, Jeri's is a good one (Motorsports Illustrated) at Badbonz

I have some older PS tutorial books at the shop that I'll give you if you'll pay postage. It'll be Monday before I can look at them and inform you what version they apply to but I am sure that they will assist you in learning the basics of PS. The one that I seem to recall most vividly has a CD too..
I'm as happy as a bird with a french fry..
