Contract Embroidery pricing?
« on: August 01, 2011, 03:19:33 PM »
I do screenprinting for a local embroiderer that also prints but feels my quality is better.  I've recently been telling customers I have added embroidery in my work.  My question is: how do I price it out?  I can easily find the price that my contract embroiderer is charging and I can easily find the cost of the blank apparel.  What is everyone marking up on the blank so they can make something off the job?

I have a situation where I print for the embroiderer and they embroider for me... When I give a quote I will usually tell the customer the digitizing is 5$50 or under..if it looks pretty involved then I say $75 or under..

I usually double the price of what the embroider charges me...BUT if it looks complicated I wait and get a quote from the embroidery shop..

We do embroidery two different ways for our contract clients.

1) We supply the garments and embroidery and discount the retail price by 20 to 40%.
Some clients like this way so they don't have to do anything but place the order and deal with their customer.

2) Customer supplies the garments all we do is embroider them at our contract price.

If you choose to supply the garment and have them just do the embroidery mark your garments up the same
as you would if you were printing them. Ask your embroiderer what they would charge retail for the work
and add that to the garment price.

Whitewater has the right idea about the digitizing.
