Are Vacum Exposure Tables Noisey?
« on: November 09, 2010, 09:59:40 AM »
Finally to the point where I need the faster exposure times a proper exposure unit can provide.
How noisey are they?

Commercial units (or DIY's) with proper vacuum pumps rather than shop vacs are not noisy.
On the other hand, it's, of course, not the vacuum that decreases your exposure time, but rather, a better light source.
But you knew that.
The vacuum may reduce undercutting and give you back some detail that may be lacking presently.

Actually, the vacuum is noisy, but the table is pretty quiet. Kidding aside, it will depend on the vacuum, whether it's a shop vac or a good vacuum pump. I've always had a commercial unit with the pump, so while you can definitely hear it, I wouldn't refer to it as noisy...

Define noisy.  My vacuum pump is about as loud as one of those compressors you would use to blow up an air mattress.
I love the smell of ink curing in the morning.

yup a vacuum table isn't what I would call noisy, but frog is right, it won't increase your output, it will actually decrease it since you have to wait for suction.

a vacuum table and stronger light source would do the trick.

The vacuum pump on my MSP 3140 is pretty quite. You you can hear it but it is not load enough to make you raise your voice if talking right next to it.

Mine is loud enough that you won't forget to shut it off.... but not so loud that it bothers anyone.

Ours is noisy as well, but not enough to make a fuss, but I do like the quick vac it has, but hate the the light source.  If you can get a nice point light with vac thats the best choice.
