Preston, just a few questions if I may?
1) Did you enjoy doing the job?
2) Was your customer/partner satisfied with the results, or better?
3) Did you make a little scratch?

I'd call it a success

Since about 8% of men are color blind, only 92% of the men buying them might not see the "right" red. I'd guess about 95% of those guys were so hung over from the party the night before, everything looked red. And the ones that were seeing everything clear (all 6 of them?) could give a rat's ass if the red in that car was dead nuts. I think it was a fine looking print.

Yes to all 3.

But none of them where hung over. These are car nuts and they come out early and polish their cars all day.

The WOW I do not know about as DTG just reinforces the customers belief that all you need to do it click a button on the computer and out spits a t-shirt.

Process printing is fairly straightforward and you?ll simply output the films and go.

The act of pulling a squeegie makes it look easy, and cheap to boot, which is why so many people think they can buy a $295 press and start raking in the big bucks instantly. How much time, effort and money have the folks on this forum put into learning how to print professionally, not just squeeze some paint through a silkscreen? What are the chances that someone who attended the car show, watched Preston, and thought to themselves, "money for nothin' and chicks for free?"

"money for nothin' and chicks for free?"

Thats a cool song.

Just do what I did. Buy the ones going out and turn a profit. You can always sell good equipment.

The sad thing is, even people in this business don't know as much as they think they do. I almost punched an artist of ours one day when he said to my face...."all you're doing is pushing ink through a screen". I'm still here, he's not.

It's a never-ending learning curve. I had a job to print last week, two hours to get it out, and had two of five screens that looked like the emulsion had lint in it that was stuck in the open areas and wouldn't wash out. Never had that problem before. Turned out the film was fuked up, or at least after I ran two new separations, the problem went away. The old films looked pretty good, certainly not buggered up enough to cause that problem, or so I thought, and my emulsion has quite a bit of latitude. You just never know in this business.

I don't coat screens on rainy days anymore.

Mine did some weird things.

Hi, Preston!
Shirts looked great to me. How do these shirts hold up after you wash them? I used to use process and 305 screens. And I always had problems with them fading pretty bad after they were washed. Did you use regular process inks or modify your own like you did with your white?

I'd imagine his white base probably helped a ton with any fibrillation.

One of the things about QuikSeps that Steve pushes is using a white underbase on all process work. Minimizing fibrillation is one of the acclaimed benefits. In the prior version of the program, he'd also mentioned using a clear underbase would help with that.

Yes to the using regular process inks. The base may help but I base them so they pop on pastel colored shirts. The only time I have had them fade is when I did not cure them hot enough. The main thing is cook the crap out of them in the dryer. If you cannot hold the print area when it come out of the dryer then it is good to go.

The ones I did this weekend came out fantastic. I did not have much time to take video as I was busy as hell printing shirts. But here is a small crappy vid of some shirts.

I am going to say this about QuikSep Pro. If you are going to do 4 color process, GET IT. QSPro kicks ass making 4cp separations.
