Clip Art Vector Graphics
« on: June 25, 2011, 03:35:25 PM »
Hello,

I am looking to purchase some vector clip art packs and I was wondering what you all recommended.  We want to use these graphics for screen printed t-shirts and possibly for heat transfer designs.  I saw a couple websites and I wanted know if anyone had any experience with them.

Any suggests or help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

For sheer volume on the cheap, this clip art package is pretty good. Only about 200,000 are vector. They have other packs with more stuff, but still only 200,000 vector.

I've got an old version with something like 75,000 images that I've had forever and still use.

Thanks!

I have a half dozen collections of clip art but most often I find myself buying single files from www.Clipart.com or www.IStock.com

Are you using a mac with this?  I looked at it again on amazon and it said that it was only for a pc

Thanks

I'm on a Mac and the set I have open fine. These sets often come with a piece of software that acts as an organizational tool, which probably only works on a PC. Check to see if the set comes with a book showing all the art. My older set came with a book, so I look up the art I want, put in the appropriate CD, and locate the number that's shown under the image in the book.

Im bumping this thread with some more questions.

For those shops buying clip art online... how are you showing the customers the options?  Are you simply sending them a link to your preferred clip art site and letting them search?  Or are you getting an idea of what they are looking for, finding a few options yourself, and then showing them some options?   And then do you just roll the cost of the image into the cost of the job?

Would you find that this is easier than having clip art packages and going that route?

We dont have anything yet, and want to get set up the right way.

Most all of the clipart packages come with a digital catalog now so you can just pull a few options that fit their concept and email it to them. Most customers that want clipart style artwork have already looked around the web and normally send you something and say "like this". This will give you and idea of what to show them for approval.

When I had a subscription to clipart.com (when they were more reasonable) I would have customers go to the site, pick out a graphic, tell me the number so I could download it and go from there. It was pretty simple...
