One more Time
« on: September 28, 2011, 10:16:44 PM »
Hey guys,
I have a manual shop that is running pretty steady and I am looking to buy my first auto. I saw a Brown Stealth 6/8 at a NNEP show in Nashville a few years ago and though that it might be a good starter being all electric. I am just not comfortable with that amount of money at this time. I am now looking at a used Anatol. It is a 2007 6/8 Horizion, so I would like to hear from someone that has some experience with those presses. I would really appreciate any suggestions or recommendations.

Thanks,
Steve

What are they asking for the Horizon? Does it come with a flash, shipping, install?

There is a lot of stuff to look at, but any decent auto will bring you to the next level. Our first auto was way used, but allowed us to increase output tremendously. When we added a second, it was a '94 M&R Gauntlet, which is running right now. We sold the first machine and replaced it with an MHM 10/12. Wouldn't you love to print 300 to 500 5 or 6 color prints in an hour? Without the physical stress? My 2 cents...

The key is to look how the press was maintained. Its pretty new but if they did not maintain it worth a shit you could be in for trouble. I would get the serial number off that baby and call Anatol to get its history. They are a nice little machine. When we got our first auto it was bottom of the barrel. It got the job done and allowed us to step it up. Like Steve we have since sold it and upgraded to a better machine. That machine is still going strong at the place we sold it to. If this one is in good shape it would be a great one to start out with.

Thanks guys, I will try to get the serial number and call anatol. That's a good idea. As far as final price, no way to know till I see it. I went to the bank just today and got my money squared away. I didn't want to pester someone to death, make an offer, and then not be able to follow through because I couldn't get the money. So now when I find the right deal, I'm ready to go.
It does have a flash, I don't know if it is single or three phase yet. I've got an email in to find out. I'm in a very rural area and do not have access to three phase. I could most likely get it home myself, but no matter what I end up buying, I'll probably have a tech do the install.
And yes, yes, yes, Steve for now I would love to see 200 an hour without the physical stress.
So what are some things to look for to tell if it was maintained or not?
