Vector graphics for shirts
« on: October 28, 2011, 01:53:36 PM »
Thank you for your help in choosing a software.  Now on to my next question ... where do i find the vector graphics to start t shirt design with ... you know the little swirls and do dads that go behind your images ... Do they have a name?  I don't mind buying a 'clipart' cd either, just get me pointed in some direction.

I have googled things like eagle for example and found very nice images to buy, but I don't know how to search for the other things ... I stick a sample picture here if I can

{alt} how do you put an image you have on your computer inside the [img] brackets?

Or maybe a nice flower image placed over a squigly (how do i find the squigly?)

Thanks, prim begin

Sound like swirls and swooshes might be what you are after. There are tons of freebies out there.

Heres one to start with.

Did you get all 4 CDs with the version of Corel you bought? If so there are over 10,000 pcs of clip art on the Corel Clip art CD to get you started.
There are all kinds of sight to buy clip art from but try to stick to the ones that specialize in t'shirt art

Here's a few

http://advancedtshirts.com/  Also has some great free tuts for learning and free plugins for fonts and under basing.

http://www.rivalart.com/Clipart-Kits/Sports-Clipart/Basketball-Clipart/  great for sports teams and schools

http://www.vecteezy.com/  Has some thing that come in handy as backgrounds, silhouettes  and stuff and it's free.

I downloaded the 30 day free trial from corel to get me by until the next board meeting (for approval), the school decided they would probably buy the software for me!

The swirls and swooshes are great at inspirational feed!!  They are described as 'brushes' ... do they work like fluid images that you can pull and tug on?  Is there a 'name' for a more masculine version of the same type of things?  The coat of arms is getting there ... I'm going for athletic / abercrombie for the first shirt ...

The ones that Stitch mentioned above should have what you are looking for to start with. You just have to google the key words for the type of graphic and you should get plenty of hits
