Which Corel Draw x4?
« on: October 24, 2011, 09:24:34 PM »
Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and screen printing.  I have recently been give the oppurtunity to learn and run the screen printing for the art department at our local school.

My question is which version of corel draw x4 will do what I will need?  I googled it, and at amazon they have the 3 versions listed below!!!

I am also thinking about gimp for color seperation and inkscape for vectors ... but if I can get the 'real deal' for $50.00 ... why bother (I think  :D) ... Any suggestions?

This ist what I found at amazon:

CorelDraw x4 Home & student edition $50.00 --> http://www.amazon.com/CorelDRAW-Graphics-Suite-Home-Student/dp/B001CEXR94/ref=sr_1_3?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1319507667&sr=1-3

CorelDraw x4 Education Edition $86.00 --> http://www.amazon.com/CorelDRAW-Graphics-Suite-X5-Education/dp/B0039XZ3T8/ref=sr_1_5?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1319507667&sr=1-5

CorelDraw Graphics Suite x4  $189.95 -->http://www.amazon.com/Corel-CDGSX4ENPC-CorelDRAW-Graphics-Suite/dp/B0012KZKZC/ref=sr_1_4?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1319507667&sr=1-4

I'm open to suggestions (even different software, just trying to keep it cheap since I will not be making any money from this venture) !  I'm hoping someonel will say the $50.00 versoin will have all the things needed !

Thank you for your help!

Not sure about the Home and Student but the only real difference between the Education edition and the CorelDraw Graphics Suite x4 edition is you get a book and I believe more clip art with the CorelDraw Graphics Suite x4 edition. The other difference is the license. Only the CorelDraw Graphics Suite x4 edition is licensed for commercial use.

The first one might work.

The second one is the new X5

the third one is what I have.

I would go with #2 if you can prove you are a student or teacher.

Get it mailed to you and don't take the download so you can get the disk and book.

I am a teacher who in not working ... but my mom is an active teacher with an arts minor ... I would think she could pick it up for me if I can't.  Do I need a commercial license?  The school takes orders and prints shirts for others ...  What type of info is in the book that comes with the x4 suite but not the education version?

I believe the Education Edition is a full version of Draw and all the stuff in the books is on the CD.
If you are taking over the art department that would qualify you are a teacher wouldn't it?

Yes the education version is supposed to be the full edition to be sold to the educational industry at a discount for their use only.

If I remember right we bought the education version for my daughter off Amazon and did not have to show anything to anyone to get it.
