ACME screen stretcher
« on: October 13, 2010, 08:08:37 AM »
I should have my ACME screen stretcher by Friday this week. I saw this at the ISS Show in Fort Worth and was impressed by it.  It is inexpensive compared to all of the other screen stretching alternatives. I got several panels made for the 23x31 Newmans and I will report back accordingly.

you can check out the video here.

I didn't hear the music until last night... I think I have heard it somewhere before...???

Anyway...as if I wasn't sold at the show.. after using it I will never fear my Newman's again. Well atleast not the 23x31's. Man that was nice and easy.

I just saw this at the SGIA show in Vegas.  They were not using it on Newman Roller frames.  Does it work just as good with Newman Roller frames?  I know you said it did, but I wanted to check again with you after you have spent more time with it.

I think these are retailing for 399. with a roller frame and some mesh panels. I got a better deal through my supplier.

It works just fine with Newmans. Thats the reason I bought it. The frame on it in my picture is a Newman. Super easy to tension and flat when I was done.

Does it automatically handle the corner softening?  Those corners look darn nice.

Or did you use pre-made panels and not raw mesh?

I got several pre-made panels with the purchase and then I picked up a few extra also.

Well i popped 2 panels today. I don't know if the corners are soft enough. Both popped on the 3 rd round of tensioning from the corners. 305 and a 260.

Rex,

What is the recommended tension for these panels?

For the 305 probably 17n.  The 260 is probably around 20n.

If its good mess the 305s 26-34 I keep mine around the 22-26 range. I use 280s and keep them about the same as the 305.

According to my chart from Newman the 260 should only be 17-20. I have know idea why they would be less at a thicker diameter

Even if you're on the right track, If you stand still you will get run over
