Signs and banners, oh my....
« on: April 14, 2011, 06:50:29 AM »
how many of you primary screen printers or embroiders also include signs and banners in your offerings?  Do you find it worth while offering the additional products?  Is the ROI good?  I've talked to some who believe that the sign industry has a better ROI than screen printing.  Do you find this true?

just curious.....
Have a great day! :)

I offer banners but I don't print them. I work very closely with a banner/sign shop right up the street. They get shirts orders that I discount to them  and I get banner orders that they discount to me. It works very nicely. You just need time to build a relationship like that.
I am a firm believer in offering anything you can to your customers. You don't want them shopping elsewhere. Because if they call me for balloons I am going to try and get their shirt, sign, banner, pen, water bottle....... orders too. I also believe that if you are great at printing shirts, print shirts and let me do the balloons. When I need pens I call a pen company. When I need golf balls I call a golf ball company...
Just my opinion.
Matt
No koolaid for me, thanks.

We do the same as Matt. We do embroidery screen printing and cut our own letters and numbers in twill and thermo film in house.
But we offer almost everything our customers could want or need and have them done by companies that specialize in that product.
Because we have a 24in cutter we will do small banners with vinyl if a customer asks but large or printed ones we sub out.
When you want something done

What happened in the past has everything to do with what we are today.

Even if you're on the right track, If you stand still you will get run over

Coming from experience the sign industry is doing very well compared to screen printing. Vinyl banners and signs are used by just about every company and it is really a necessity to have.

We do basic vinyl signs in house only because we have the cutter that was purchased to do names and numbers. We contract out the bigger signs and ones with a lot of detail. Same for banners basic in house with vinyl, printed are sent out.  We have a deal worked out with a local sign shop and help each other out.
