Going to try a 4 spot color heat transfers, Killer
« on: September 02, 2011, 09:14:18 AM »
Hey Johnny, you've had a lot of experience with these. I've done plenty of one color and two color, but my concern is that by the 3rd flash, that the fist color is going to be over flashed or over gelled after it's trip through the dryer after the last color, and not stick to the cloth. Also, powdering doesn't sound like it woud be too effective on flashed inks. Whatcha think?

i'm not johnny but i will throw my .02 in here.

i printed 4 color transfers about a year ago.  Used them on golf towels.  I printed 1 color a time and sent down my dryer.  lined up, printed 2nd color, down the dryer, repeat.  on the last color, i did apply the crystals/powder before it went down the dryer for the final time.  Transfers printed beautifully.

alignment is my biggest problem with multi colors but i'm working on it.   :D
Have a great day! :)

Talked to Steve.

He is posting picts after its all over. next week. Ink transfers.

Different job also for you sublimation guys he is getting a brown color from the paper around the image by the time the sub colors look good.

Is that moisture in the paper or what? I don't know.

Man it was good talking to ya.

I have question related to transfers for all pros out there.
Not so long time ago, on youtube I sow clip of multicolor transfer printing on specially made M&R with vacuum pallets. There was flash between every color and they were printing transfers inline, like t shirts, with flashing in between each color. I know that every major manufacturer has automatic printing press with vacuum pallets just for printing transfers as well.
I did only few single color transfers in my life, but I am thinking to try multicolor printing on manual carousel with flashing in between colors like they do on automatic machines.
Do you guys think if that would work?

If you have vacuum plates on a regular manual press, or one anyway, yes, that would help. Since I don't, I'm going to use a waterbased platen adhesive (it goes on smoother than web spray) and see how it goes. The customer has changed his mind for the 5th time, so I don't have to do the test in the morning, but I will next week and post some pix...

Happy Labor Day Weekend
